Our Mission & Vision
The Gathering Place mission is to pursue life transformation through encountering the Kingdom of God. We do so by embracing the three characteristics that define God’s Kingdom: communion, family and mission.
Our relationship with God
We desire to learn God’s story and how it impacts our personal life story. We worship the Lord by offering our genuine praise and connecting with Him through prayer.
Our relationship with God’s people
We develop and foster close-knit relationships through vulnerability within the church body. We build camaraderie by intentionally seeking opportunities to develop mutual trust in our friendships.
Our relationship with the world
We seek to extend God’s rule and reign where we dwell by welcoming His presence into our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and beyond. We strive to use our time, talents, resources and words to love and bless others.
We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error and the infallible rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons—The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1)
We believe that God concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hears and answers prayer, and saves from sin and death all those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (John 3:16)
We believe in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son who was conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth. (Isaiah 7:14)
We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. (Acts 1:8)
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. (John 6:13)
We believe in the filling of the Holy Spirit, which can and should happen continually in the life of a believer. (Acts 4:31)
We believe in the present day ministry of the Holy Spirit in regard to the exercise of all biblical gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the instructions given to us in 1 Corinthians 12-14.
We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, falling short of God’s standard and breaking His commandments, yet God saves and gives new life to all who come to Him in repentance and faith—an invitation available to all. (Romans 3:23)
We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all who are born again are a part of the Body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the church: water baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper. (Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:19-20)
We believe in a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. All those who place their faith, hope and trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven with the Lord, while those who reject Jesus’ free gift of salvation will spend eternity separated from the Lord. (1 Peter 1:4, Revelation 20:11-15)
We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which is His personal, visible return to earth and the establishment of His millennial kingdom. (Matthew 16:27)
